What is Vedic Astrology

Jyotisha is a Sanskrit word for what is referred to as Vedic Astrology in the west. The spiritually profound and mathematically intricate system was first recorded on Babylonian clay-tablets between 350 and 50 B.C. After millenniums of war and peace across Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Indus River Valley, Jyotisha was eventually codified by Parashara Muni (Sanskrit, an ancient seer) in his monumental classic Brihat Parashara Hora Sastra. BPHS's closely guarded teachings was orally passed down to the selective few within spiritual lineages until the early 90's.

Vedic Astrology captures planetary configurations at moments of births and provides us with valuable insights into the unfolding of time as an individual experiences it. For example, Covid might be bad for many industries, but an auspicious period for medical mask manufacturers. Jyotisha helps us realistically evaluate our individual potentials and challenges at different stages in order to live a fulfilling life. Through forecasting trends of ups and downs, Jyotish enables us to make better choices through practical remedial measures, harmonizing areas of difficulty or enhancing areas of ease.

Jyotisha is a complex science as it is about interpreting life, and the vastness of life is filled with twists and turns. It takes years to learn and decades to master, but a worthwhile one nevertheless, because it is also an eye-opening path to understanding the interrelatedness of all things in a synchronistic universe.
